-Dragonfly-
Larger than life we danced in an enchanted forest,
Heeding beats, following Motion
Laughing and pulling each other through
The impossible twisted throngs
Of smiling massive sweaty gyrations.
Still funny how the sun rose
On a decimated downtown hotel–
We had trekked by moonlight
To a magical castle
And trudged back to a filthy parking deck.
Illusions.

-Rabbit, Rabbit-
Surrounded by sacred electric pulse
I placed the sacrament upon my tongue,
Kissed my friends and world goodbye
Walked and skipped and tripped
Merrily blearily into an uncertain future.
And on that stage, flanked by sound and pure wonder,
I saw the true face of the beast
(That was not)
And grabbed for the offerings made to the whirling worshiping masses:
Love. The opposite of
Fear.

-Phoenix-
Was this building razed in the fires?
It has the feeling of something
Reconstructed.
Easter Sunday, Early.
My communion this year:
A tablet stamped with an e
And washed down with cranberry and vodka.
A last supper, of sorts.
Flushing me with warmth,
A liquid molten secret fire
Spreading through my core
And giving me wings to fly–
Over barriers, over body–
Oh, sacred body, vehicle for new sensations never dreamt of–
I landed one year later
A million miles and seven city blocks
From where I watched that brilliant sunrise
Reborn.
